Dr hab. Anna Błasiak, Professor at Jagiellonian University, earned both her MSc and PhD in Biology from Jagiellonian University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Melbourne. After completing her habilitation at Jagiellonian University, she directed the Neurobiology program and became faculty advisor for the Neuronus student association. Prof. Błasiak is an active member of the Polish Neuroscience Society and both the Biological and Neurobiology Committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2024, she became Director of the Institute of Zoology and Biomedical Research and Head of the Department of Neurophysiology and Chronobiology at UJ. Prof. Błasiak leads a research team whose electrophysiological, anatomical, and molecular studies uncovered a key role for relaxin-3 and its receptors in stress-induced compulsive feeding. Her group has further delineated the neuronal circuits that regulate septohippocampal activity and neuropeptidergic pathways underlying novelty-seeking behavior, as well as their differential sensitivity to various stressors.
