Dr hab. Zenon Rajfur, prof. UJ is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science of Jagiellonian University in Kraków. He earned Master degree in Physics and PhD in Biological Sciences from Jagiellonian University. After completing his doctoral studies he pursued his postdoctoral research at the Rutgers University, NJ, USA and then at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. His group research is focused on the problems of cellular and tissue mechanobiology, investigating how mechanical properties of the cellular microenvironment influence the cellular homeostasis. The main research tools are advanced techniques of optical microscopy such as confocal microscopy, optical tweezers, FLIM and Traction Forces Microscopy.
